      Re: New custom 300 gal

I just ordered my tank from glasscages.com.  They charged my $1415 for everything.

      300 Tall   $895
      Divider (for overflow)   $50
      6 drilled holes (3 - 1", 3 - 1.5")   $150
2 bottom plates (to reinforce holes opposite overflow) see updated pic   $50
      Acrylic Divider Cover   $90
      6 - Sch 80 bulkheads   $90
      Pickup in Houston   $120

I know I kinda got screwed on the bulkheads, but at least I know they'll fit and these are the more robust schedule 80 ones.

The tank comes eurobraced with 3 crossbraces.  They worked closely with me on the design and helped with placement of the holes in the overflow to accomodate two durso-type standpipes.  The bottom glass is long enough that the side and front pieces sit on the bottom glass (not floating bottom)... not sure what it's called but I think it's safer this way.  The glass is 1/2" thick on the sides and 3/4" thick on the bottom.

Hope the quality is okay... I'll keep everyone posted once I pick it up on July 6th!

See you tonight at the meeting!  (not sure what you got, Delock...)

I like it when folks post cost information.  This helps all us hobbyist out!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like a beauty of a tank.

I siliconed some acrylic to the bottom of my glass tank to help keep it from getting dinged from any falling holey rock.  You may opt to do the same for some added protection.

Ron...would the under gravel help with falling rocks?

I put eggcrate on the bottom of my aquariaum before I added substrate. I just cut it to fit. Then I put my sand over it.

              Re: New custom 300 gal

I think I might slide some plexi or acrylic under everything before I lay down my UGF or crushed coral.  Great ideas!
