Nick, the lfs I won't go back too is in Beaumont. I don't even know the name of the place. I've only been there once. The owner was a total a**.
He told me that he knows what kind of system I have because of where I normally shop. So I told him to tell me what I have. He was
wrong on the sump, powerheads & overflow. Three strikes! Then that's when he told me I was doing everything wrong and I was going to kill
all my fish. And that he would not sell me any fish if I wanted to buy some because I didn't know what I was doing, but if I did what he told me
to do then I wouldn't have any problems. Well I don't trust what he said to do. I have 3 puffers in my tank and I do water changes twice weekly.
He told me to do a 10% water change once a month. 8O If I did that my nitrates would probally go through the roof. Maybe he didn't realize that
puffers are messy fish. I'm still doing what I always did and it's working out fine. My fish are healty and happy.

What a complete wingnut! 8O

There was a bar named "Dicks" in San Antonio on ther Riverwalk and when you went in, the staff really let you know why the place was named "DICKS".  It was fun once you were hip to the joke.  Maybe you could pretend that this is the same kind of place and give the snooty employees a little something something back.

The only lfs in Beaumont that I know about is Aquatic Habitats. And they are always nice there but I havent really ever gotten advice from them either. Where is the one you did not like?

Maybe all of us should get together one day and make a trip to that store - JUST TO LOOK AROUND!!  :wink:

There are four lfs in beaumont. It's not Aquatic Habitats. I love that place!  Those guys are awesome
I can't remember the name of the other store,   my cousin also went there and
said she would not go back either. I didn't even know they were there until she told me about it.

i know this is supposed to go under the retail section but i thought it would get more views in tis forum. i live around the corner from fish and pet ranch off almeda genoa and i have had enough of them today i had a horrible experiance and im now done. i went in there every few weeks with a friend of mine some times we buy stuff other times we dont . i went in there a few weeks with out him and the owners wife made the comment oh your by yourself today you didnt bring your friend and i replied no just me today she then said something that was beyond rediculas and i quote "good he never buys anything he is a 100% nightmare just looks never buys" i blew it off and thought nothing of it. i hit the place up for feeders once a week and the occasional fish. Last time i was in there she told me oh i bet your just looking you never buy anything. i stoped going for a while then today i went in there and i bought 2 bucks worth of feeders and gave her $3 she got the change out of the register and threw it on the counter and walked away. i am never going back to this store. i like the place and its so convenant but its not worth it has anybody else had any problem with this place?

I did not know the existence of this thread but by chance I went to this store just today and bought a couple of fish. The fish looked healthy to me and the people there seem ok as well. Just my experience.

My friends went there a week ago the freaking lady was being rude as well, you know what she said? she was asking them in a rude way in viet " Are you guys going to buy anything or just stand there and watch?" After i heard the story i was like WTF? She was being F****** rude, even though im asian, i dont like how she treats her customers.  My friend was about to buy something from the store too. I dont think we'll ever go to that place ever again. I mean they do have some nice fishes and stuff, but just the attitude towards the customer will throw you off. Hey Rage maybe they were being nice to you cus you bought something from them.....Try to go to the place and looking around, just stay there for a few minutes, i'll bet that the lady will give you an atttitude......hehehhehehe.

so she is rude to everyone, thats equally horrible. its not just because of a downward economy that service is soo important. little stores get squezeed every year by the bigger chains. by specializing in fish that the chains dont carry and equipment that they do not have they find a place to survive. but if t isnt plesant to shop there you CAN find a store thats a little further away that is a lot nicer and is worth the trip all its own. so i will remmember not to frequent this establishment ever again.
