I would think that if you have a flow problem with the penguin mini bio wheel that it is eather a matter of cleaning the impellor housing or replacing the impellor.

i went ahead and got an aquaclear 30. i got it at petsmart and they price matched petcos price, which was like $10 cheaper :).

JStrider- i now see what you are saying about stacking stuff insidet he filter.

Petco was cheaper?!?! I don't think I've ever seen them be cheaper on anything.

yah figured you would see after you got it.  its a pretty different water flow/filter media placement then the penguins

I've actually gone in the opposite direction. I went away from Aquaclear as I did not like how the the filter basket would pop up like a toaster and causing water to spill on the floor when the media was clogged. I like the convenience of the Penguin filters with the pads that are easy to replace and the biowheel providing on going biofiltration.

ya petco had an online sale that was like 10 bucks cheaper than the in store price. i printed out the sheet and went to petsmart and they matched the online price which was like 7 bucks cheaper than their in store price.

im really pleased with the aquaclear so far. its realy quiet but powerful and i like that you can adjust the amount of filtration.

JStrider- so far im just gonna run both filters side by side for a month or 2. the filter pad from the penguin is too big to fit inside the aquaclear.
