    How many pounds of gravel does it take to cover a 125gal bottom?
    Does any one have any red, blue something bright....

    i found a formula online that said multiply your tanks length x width and divide by ten and that will give you 2 of gravel.
    if you put about 130 lbs. in it it will give you about a 2" thick cover.  if you multiply 130 lbs. by 1.5 which equals 195 lbs.  then it will give you about 3 in of cover.

      What fish are you going to have in your tank ?
      If you like African's I would recommend pool sand and I would put about 125 lbs to 150 lbs of sand in it.
      Personally I use gravel only for planted tanks.
      Most Africans will want to dig and since they like to sift though the sand to look for food its also good to have sand in the tank.

      Just my 2c

          I've got a bunch of white gravel you can have if you want it...
