  • What a night (in fishy ol' Galveston)

to add to "what a night"-
I just added on my second filter to the 110. It's a rena xp3...
I somehow got the hoses switched....only God knows what happened.
Also, only God knows why I was changing a filter with my mouth wide open.

Needless to say, it somehow started shooting debris into my aquarium...it was reversed...very odd.
So, I turned it off....pulled the tubes out to switch them quickly...
    BAM!!!
I will never know why my mouth was open, maybe it's like when women put on mascara...we have to have our mouths open.
I got it in the mouth. BAD. I feel like a drank a gallon before I realized I was drowning in fish dookey water.
I gagged for about 1/2 a minutes and then I realized that my living room was filling with water, the hose was somehow still sucking the water out of the tank.

Story of my life, I got it under control...sadly, I tasted fish...poop.  :wail:

So, I go outside to get some fresh air...and just my luck, my neighbor is gutting his newly caught fish on his dock next door.
We know what happened next.

you really haven't kept fish unless you've had some good dose of fishpoo water, its one of the pledge rules
            65 gallon - ADA 120p - planted
55 gallon - AGA standard - mix cichlid
            30 gallon tall - eclipse acrylic - semi-planted

            live and let live

Re: What a night (in fishy ol' Galveston)

I grew up swimming in the Bayous.   Getting a little fishie water in the mouth is no big deal.
Try syphoning gas out of a car tank  :bswithstupid:
'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

lmao...funny thing...that's why I bought the rena xp3 in the first place. My eheim was acting funny...so, I called a few of my fish friends and we figured that, in the end, I needed to suck the hose.

However, I had kept old media in the filter in this particular eheim in hopes to keep some of the good bacteria kicking in my new tank.
The air from that son of a gun had me gagging all over my living room...people think the water is what tastes terrible...the air was rancid.  8O
So, I just went and bought a new one. I couldn't suck anymore...

So, to all of you who suck your hoses...I salute you.

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.
