    Re: Cloudy water

Could be from a couple different things. If you just set the tank up in the last couple of days, it could be cloudy from insufficiently rinsed gravel, rocks and decorations. If the tank has been up long enough for the cycle to begin, then it may be what's generally referred to as a bacterial bloom called New Tank Syndrome. It will clear up eventually with water changes and time. A sponge filter or internal filter with floss in it may speed up the clearing process.

Are there fish in the tank or are you doing a cycle?  How long has water been in the tank?  like wesley said it may be a bacteria bloom

If you really want sparkling clean water, then you need to polish it with a Diatom filter.
'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

Thats the same as my tank was, kinda clear left for an hour and came back to it looking like it had baby powder in it or something and then about 3 days later it was sparkly clean...without changing any water.

What you are seeing when you see what looks like white powder all over is a bacteria bloom.  It will go away in a few days.
