  • Cichlids mommies holding

I noticed that two of my newly acquired africans were holding eggs (I'm assuming it's that early).  I probably will just leave them in the big tank and let nature take its course, but I may decide to put them in another tank to release.  How long does it normally take before the females are ready to be stripped or spit naturally?  One is a red zebra and one is a lemon yellow.

    3-4 weeks.

Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

Malawi female young will have absorbed their egg yolk after about 16 days of incubation.  After that they will continue to grow until they are released around 21-25 days.  The Female will release around the 23-27th day.  Strip as late as you can like day 21 as the young for sure can survive in a bare glass tank.
