Hi gang, just got my electricity on sunday afternoon. I haven't done a complete head count yet but I have a few MIA's. All puffer's are alive and well. Elvis, Cheech & Chong did great!. I checked my water last night and my nitrates are at 20, thank goodness I am so anal about keeping my nitrates so low. I have no internet yet, I am at work right now. My home had very little damage and I have a few items from the patio that were blown away. During the day we used the battery operated pumps and all night we used the generator. I lost about half of my plants, hoping these will come back stronger and better. I have family and friends that lost everything, but they still have their lives. I guess you could say we were very blessed during this storm.


One thing I learned from Ike: Duracel batteries last 4 times longer than energizer. Just in case you were wondering.

Really, I thought energizer keeps going.  :)

... but honestly most likely normal is just when Nick can join another meet and feel free again !!

It's all relative.  I should have said "Normal is it applies to you."  Because the people who know me, know that MY normal is definitely slightly off from most people's 'normal'.    

Example:  Most people would not think it's 'normal' to have more aquariums than seating in our house.

Power came back on yesterday and as far as I can tell there are no casualties. I haven't fixed any of the timers yest, so there aren't lights, but from what I've seen so far everybody survived.

Just got power back yesterday too. 9 days of little sleep!!! Man, thank God for battery powered air pumps, daily water changes and the fact that I have a gas stove and could heat up water to put in the tanks. I'm very glad I filled up those sweater storage tupperware bins with water before the storm!!

I don't think I lost a fish, woo-hoo!!! 8O  8)

in case there are people on here who still can't get back to their homes in Galveston or surrounding area's this website is providing a satellite view of everywhere that Ike struck. you just click the box for your area and then click the picture to zoom in.....it's not super close up but you can see if you still have a roof or not and check out the damage in your area.   hope this helps someone..Juicy
