Re: Roll Call for all Boxer's

Brownsnoutuk (Chris) is okay.  No damage to his house and didn't lose any important fish but did lose some shrimp.  He does have power now but doesn't have internet.

Re: Roll Call for all Boxer's

Well, a couple of you guys convinced me to post my current situation -

I'm here manning the phones at work, we JUST got our power back this afternoon, YES! (Thanks, Derek.   ) The discus are back at it again and laid eggs immediately - guess they're happy about the power, as well!

ANYWAYS. I am okay. Frustrated, but okay. Still no power. Been staying at my parents' house and commuting from there to my apartment, then to work, then to the apartment, and then back to Katy for the night.

So far 3 fish have gone to the big ocean in the sky. (I know of 2, one other I cannot find and am assuming the worst.) Thanks to Juicy for the bubblers and the company.  :)  She convinced me to borrow them, and wow, what a lifesaver!

I am moving my saltwater inhabitants (in a newly-purchased 5.5g) to my parents' house tonight, where I can plug them into some filtration. Otherwise, it's a lot of pouring water and switching-of-bubblers. Usually my fish are fine without filtration for an almost infinite period of time, as long as the lights work to get the plants to photosynthesize.    Oh well. Keeping my fingers crossed that the power comes back on before I go completely insane.

It's great to hear that so many of you have your power back, and that all is well!

Quick explanation for my lack-of-responsiveness, those who called: Charged my phone up until the moment the power went out (Saturday morning at 2:56 AM). Phone was fine - I even messaged Ek back and told him I was fine! Then my service started going whacky, which caused my phone to constantly search for service, which caused the battery to wear down...left with 1 bar on the battery, I had to turn off the phone to conserve its power. I figured that Raul or Ek would let you guys know I was alive. So, I apologize for not getting back with those of you that called and texted. But I want to let you know I appreciate the thoughts!  8)

Re: Roll Call for all Boxer's

My discus made it through in a 75 gal for 2 days with nothing but 2 bubble pumps. I gave them a 50% water change on Friday before the hurricane hit and then on Monday when the power came back on. Fed them bloodworms once a day. Kept lights off too. When power came on I used same 2217 canister that was non-circulating during power outage, and all came through without any deaths.

I'm glad everything worked out for your discus.

Re: Roll Call for all Boxer's

Just got power and internet back today at 3 pm. I had my battery pumps running since 10 pm last friday when the power died. I lost two tetras...not sure if their deaths were storm related. Did daily water changes on discus and every other day on the other 6 tanks. I just brought the filters back up today and expect at least a mini cycle in each tank.

I stayed here in LaMarque...no damage to the house but a couple big cedar trees are trashed. I sat on the front porch during the whole storm with a glass of crown in one hand and a coke in the other. The eye passed directly over my house and I walked out in the street during the calm to survey the damage. The sky was the strangest pink/green color. Everything is gone from the Texas City Dike; all the bait camps, boat ramps, parks, piers and docks. The trash line is 1 foot below the crest of the levee...it was a close thing. Tried to call Bob but didn't get an answer...I'll keep trying. Glad to see y'all all here.

I'm good in the Heights with power after 2 days.  All my fish survived my hand agitated water falls but lost one afterwards.  :(  All good.  I can help if needed.

I rode out the storm at home in La Porte (Lomax area) and it was kind of scary.  I have a two story house with the main living area upstairs, but it didn't take me long to decide I'd rather be downstairs. Lots of trees and pieces of trees fell, but none on the house or my truck. Lost some house trim and a bit of siding. Have water but still no power. I'm afraid to hope we'll have it before the weekend's out, cause I don't think we will.  Been running a generator (my first time) and swapping around between the fridge and fish tanks, trying to keep their filters 'safe'. also running some of those battery air pumps. Don't feel I've done as well giving the plants enough light, but I hope they'll be okay, too. So far, I think everyone's doing pretty well, but I'm sure tired of it. I only have internet now because I came back to work last night.  I don't doubt they had some water in here...it's happened before...but it must not have been too bad, since the fridge survived ! Thank goodness for that cool front ! Kept thinking : what a waste of our first Fall weather, but it was a lot better than the outage after Rita. Y'all hang in there.

I'm here too! Power came back on Tuesday, been using battery op bubblers by Azoo, batteries never went dead, all fish are alive. Discus have a bit of fin rot, hoping some big water changes with conditioned water will help that. No major damage here, though the pasture in Deer Park where I keep my horse is a wreck. The barn has 2 trees on it, tack shed is bent, and more tree damage in the pasture. Moved the horses to an emergency pasture till we get fences up for them. They went for an unaccompanied run through Deer Park Sunday night, Weeeeeee! The pasture is surrounded by subdivision, so their fences went down. What a mess!

I am sorry to hear that... I am GLAD to hear that you did lose your horses, but the unaccompanied run prolly gave you a little scare there.
I am glad you are alive and kicking :)
