Came back online yesterday, power about noon and telephone/internet about 10:00 p.m.   Not much power here in Kingwood, but we are a block from a grade school, so I think that's why we got ours.  We have it, but just across the street is still without  :(      Elderly couple accross the street are moving into our guest room with A.C. if they don't have power tonight.

Tanks did okay moving one battery powered airpump from tank to tank over the days.  Did lose about 75% of the RCS in their 5.5 gal tank.   Had my shell dweller delivery from San Antonio stopped 10 days ago when things looked iffy, and I am so glad I did.  Back on schedule to get those next week.

Howdy all,

In the cypress area where I live, we suffered mostly from mostly broken trees and or branches. Some minor structural damage here and there, lots of missing back yard fences, but no major injuries that I am aware of.  I've read some of the damage and casualty reports, and am very sorry for all the loss of fish-life, personal property damage, and the disruption of your way of life and peace of mind. I pray things will quickly return to normal for all of those who suffered greatly from the storm.

I was very fortunate not to lose any of my fishies, but of course I did lose power for 4 days, and had to keep the bubbles going while waiting for it to come back online. I finally got power, but had no DSL, which meant no phone or internet for an additional 3 days, but as you can see I'm up and running. Boy the things we take for granted.  :)

Well, where to start?
We had a generator, so our friends, their daughter & their Weimereiner stayed with us. Hootie, our Australian shepard started going crazy around 3 am...really went nuts around 6:15 am, so Renee' & I got out of bed to let him out on the porch. About 15 seconds later we heard a weird moaning and then CRASH. A 120' Pine tree fell thru the bedroom, right over my side of the bed. Of course everybody was up in an instant to grab what we could & get out of the house. All of us & 2 dogs crammed in the car...went to some other friends....as we finally got settled in the living room....CRASH. Another freakin pine tree crushed their fence, glanced off the roof and landed on the patio...no broken windows. Later went back to salvage what we could from our house. With all the rain, we had like 3" of water all over the house. My brother in law in Memphis called around Houston for us & got a contractor & clean up crew for us. So we now have 65% of the roof, 3.5 walls, virtually no drywall, so we can see all the way across the house, carpet is gone, most of the furniture has water damage. $6500 to get the tree off the house (it is now all over the front yard). Got Jason from Aquarium Creations to help out a bit...we got the fish into a 55g trash can in the garage, along with the tank. Stand has water damage...we'll have to see how bad. Many fish died, but we got power back yesterday (although no house- go figure) so there are airstones going. Hopefully he can store them for us (if they live). Estimates are 3-4 months before we can move back home. We are staying with some friends in an apartment over their garage, and we got power here tonight. All I can say is everybody is OK, the rest is "stuff" that can be replaced, even fish.

Wow Steve... 8O ...just glad to know you are okay.  And Hootie, well, Hootie deserves a medal for saving your life.

Please let us know if we can do anything to help.  Sounds like you have a long road ahead of you.

i'm really sorry about the loss of your house......and as Traci stated....if there's anything we can do just shout.....

yah steve, I dont mind helping out keeping some of your fish as well... I'm up in the woodlands, have plenty of room if you wanted to setup the tank, or if you want to set the barrel in my place that is fine as well!

8 days no power... man it sucked i realize that there are a lot of people that dont have power now and wow i really fell for you and those that dont have a house to go to i cant even begin to understand....glad to be safe and my wife got her birthday present today it was power... anyway hope everone else is safe and good luck getting your lifes back in order...

He has been posting from work, but I talked to him the other day and they where going to spend a couple of days somewhere else while waiting for the power to return.  I am thinking they are getting a little hot, and with baby I can understand.

yes it was really hot in our house with my 3 year old daughter for about 3 1/2 days..... a guy across the street was running a generator so he let me run a cord from my house to his and i was able to run a fan and some of my filters back and forth without blowing up the generator... so far so good all fish made it.... really worried about benthos for the whole time really hard to come up wtih the cash to reaplace 9 6in plus benthos....
