Checking in.  Apartment sustained no damage and power came back on yesterday.  Lost two shrimp and a few corals due to power loss that's it.  Parents house, where I was, sustained no damage....we were quite lucky compared to some of the neighbors in Dayton.  Lots of trees down and no power for who knows how long.

~70 hours without power and no indoor fish losses. Lost two goldifsh in the pond immediately after the hurricane though. Don't know what happened there. Sustained some damage to the house from leaks, doors blowing in and needing to be braced with furniture, etc... but that is what insurance is for. The important part we are all safe (me, fish and cats ... and wife).

Heather and I are still here at the In-laws and the power just barely came back on.  Unfortunately we still have no power at our home and sustained more damage than we initially thought.  We haven't been able to even tell what we have lost as far as the fish goes but for the most part they look ok.  We lost one of the corals in the new SW setup but I think everyone else is ok.  We are going to take the generator over in the morning and try to save who is left.  We dont have anything running on the tanks and I am hoping the loss isnt too great.  Good luck to everyone else and I hope everyone is ok.

Hey Hanson can you possibly take the Lion Fish in the morning if we cant get power back or the tank running?  Aron would love you forever if you can save "Spike"!

cichlidfan reports no fish loss, house okay.....still no power....trees down on lines a few houses down.....

i got power at 8pm tonight....lost one fish ....a baby clown loach....all the other faired well on all the bubblers.....
spent all day yesterday in Baytown with sister....she got 5 ft of water in her house and lost everything.....we spent the whole day salvaging what we could and unburying all the things to get into the house....i'm reminded of Alica when my mother lost her house....the same way....it's a very sad time in Baytown....all the prayers for the people of that area are sincerely appreciated.....

well i am fine and as last check my fis hare OK. running rotating Bubblers on the bigger tanks at my apartment which is still without power as of sometime friday nite/ saturday morning. oddly enough the house i am watching was without power until this evening when they are arriving, how convienent for them . and on top of all that i gotta go to work tommorow now. apparently people want pet food or somethin. but we arent open late enough for me to teach classes so its gonna throw my whole schedule off. Loretta im sorry to hear about your sister, im very sorry, my prayers are with her, i have had to do similar with my grandparents after Alison. I was able to get some more D-cells by scavenging different places i go to, and have been reading a lot by candlelight, but i will hopefully have power back on soon. at my place of resedence anyway. good luck everyone.

I just heard from Jonathan (J-WS6). He seems to be doing alright, still ain't got no power and running battery airpumps on the tanks.


I got my power back on at about 3pm today. fishes looks happier than ever with the filter running again.
I'm really sorry for those with losses. I have a running 100 gal somewhat empty, I'd be more than happy to foster for anyone till your power's back on.

Thank you David, it is very distressing to say the least....she's lived in that home 37 years....i can't remember a time when it wasn't a place of gathering for our dwindling family....but life will go on.....and we are alive ...
glad to hear your fishies are okay......
your welcome to come and get a shower, wash some clothes ....or just relax and watch some TV.....my (box) as i refer to my apartment is open to those in need .....just shout...

You guys know what the funny thing with my tanks is?  I have a 60g. with cichlids in it which have a battery air pump so keep them alive, and i also have a 20g community tank with mollies, swordtail, platies,  few juli juvies, and last but not least some yellow labs juvi without air pump. Here is where the ironic but kinda funny thing is  my mollies gave birth.  After the power was restored at my place i saw like 20+ mollie babies swiming in the tank. It's a miracle that those things are still alive and yet giving birth.....I was soooo HAPPY.

still on generator.   rumor says 2-3 weeks for our subdivision due to tornado.    

posting to say beware out there!!   kristen, my daughter went to get gas for elderly widow"s generator and after waiting in line an hour and leaving cash in store while pumping  --  she went in to get change and like all the persons waiting pulled up so next could get started.   everyone was real orderly.    Being cash, they charged her for more than what she pumped into can & to top off her Scion.   Next car was already filling so NO proof on pump as it was already reset and her receipt showed as if she filled can and was in an empty car.     Argument was on but not good.

With her Scion of course it was less a $20 overcharge but multiply by those endless long lines !!!     The place is making a killing.    talked w/ some others in our neighborhood and found out they at differing times thought it had also happened to them on cash transactions.

like they aren't already charging alot. :evil:

Hey Virginia, James tried calling you several times to check up. Glad you're ok! Hes in CS right now, doesn't have work the rest of the week. Unfortunately we don't have a generator. He just brought up the shelleys tonight and the crayfish and pond are at home with a little stock. Give a call later if you get reception :)

Someone on the radio suggested as you finish pumping the gas take a picture of the gas pump so if there is an argument you will have visual proof.
If need to be call the cops.  Let them sort it out.  Make sure that you get the pump number photographed too (use a cellphone to take the picture.  Its all you need to have.  If he over charges you then just tell him no problem, and then you can call the Harris County Prosecutors office and report the station)  They will be fined heavily for messing up.  (of course call Montgomery if its up there)

All is still good here.

Went ahead and filled up the generator cause I think the tunze battery back up is weakening.

For those nearby, krogers at Jones and I think champions over by cichlidfans place has gas, cheap and at night no line. I just got back from there and was able to fill up two cars....one my lexus which has been running for 4days straight and the little racecar civic that I have been using to get back and forth from the hurricane parties.

Hope everyone is all well, yes the fish loss is sad but at least everyone is here to report it.

We are doing good here  no phones   and just gt laptop working.  No damgae to te house and we still have no power here in atascosita  at least my neighbor hood. I was able to get a generator the day of the storm so we are running all the tanks and two refriges.

I still am limited becuse of personal injuries but will help any way I can.



I currently have enough batteries and gas to last for a few days.  Sat in line for gas in "black"   my truck and the yakon for almost 5 hours   combined.   Will get more gas as needed


got a text from Jetchanic and he was ok.  I think he spoke with fshfrk also  so think he is good  also too.

All the fish are doing wonderful. Only had on loss and that was a Ulwiles  that jumped overboard yesterday when I was gone for gas.

Spoke with Navarro the other day....he took a little hit with the fish but seems to be on track.
