hey guys and girls i had a rena xp3 running on my 90 gallon cichlid tank and during the storm the power went off so i shut the flow thing/lever so that the water would just sit in the filter and not in the tank. this was around 1 in the morning but apparently the power came back on an hour later and the filter ran with the valves closed and now i notice that the flow is alot weaker and advice?

Clean the filter completely and check the impeller...
I lost my impeller in my Eheim 2213 because the on / off power surges during the storm.
It cost me $15 to replace it and now it runs 100% again perfectly.

If you live on the southwest side of town you can goto City Pets and I believe they have parts for that pump

well the impeller looks fine i scrubbed everything i could think of will the impellor look damaged in somewayaltums 90 gallon

main thing is does the magnet on the impeller hold on to the impeller or does it allow the shaft to rotate freely ?
Mine came apart ie all the parts for the impeller came apart so basically the glue had broken down to the point that it would allow the magnet to rotate without the impeller rotating. This is what caused the slow movement of the water though the filter.
