I have noticed some odd creatures in my tanks. At first I saw one and thought it was a hair from my dog. It is white about as thick as a straind of hair and maybe half an inch. Then it started moving. Kind of wiggling around. They are not good swimmers they kind of go where the current takes them. I was wondering if anyone has seen these and know what they are. They dont seem to have an impact on my fish because they all seem healthy and fine.

Re: worms?
could be hydra....'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

Re: worms?
I did not have this problem in my African cichlid tanks but both of my planted tanks have them. I read the other posts the weird thing is I have more in my new planted tank that I am trying to start and there is nothing in the tank but three small plants and water. So the food can not be causing it they must be hitch hiking on the plants. There are a lot more in this tank than the one with all of the fish unless the fish are the ones that are keeping the population down.

Re: worms?
or planaria, or some sort of freshwater version of a bristle worm that I once had an infestation of in my 55 gallon tank. If you have no invertebrates or really sensitive fish, aquarisol in daily doses will help kill them off.PLECOS SUCK!
