interesting note, some big chains (like petsmart) do not sell painted fish. i believe you are refering to the painted glass fish. they do occasionally sell plain old glass fish though, but not altered in any means, and they do not sell the glow in the dark danios either (because they are genetically altered not through breeding)

Given sturgeons are northern US fish living in colder climates and water...live among Pike, Walleye and so on...wouldnt an African tank which requires warm water be adding additional stress on the fish?

But my thinking may be flawed and if there is a way Id be curious to know.
