I have two of these and they are quite nice looking...but I haven't the slightest clue what they are. Â I don't even know quite where to look in order to find out.

Looking in the book "Back to Nature, Guide to Tanganyika Cichlids" Page 132 The picture of the Neolamprologus Tetracanthus "Magara" is so stunningly close to your picture I am agreeing with Jeebus. Â This is the fish.

Difficultly level to keep : 2 (1-5, where 5 is hardest)
Length of fish Male/Female : 19/15cm
Should be kept in a minimum of an aquarium which longest length is minimum 80cm, and at least 100L.
Each Brood will be around 100 fry.
This fish occurs thought out the lake, normally seen in the shallow sandy and intermediate habitats. Â Eats invertebrates, including snails. Â Breeding style : cave brooder, digs a small hole in the sandy substrate to serve as a nursery chamber, a rather peaceful species which can be kept in pairs or small groups.

Hmmmm I guess having them with Red devils, interesting peacocks who go head to head with the red devils and win..... bichirs, a brown knife, and um....some geophagus isn't the ideal environment.

Note.....I bought two a while back.....and one of them killed the other...now I have one very large meanie in with Pete & Repete....two very large Oscars.

That's a decent price, I paid 10.00 each for mine, and they where only about 2.5 inches....

I USED to have some of these guys a few years back, but the dominant male KILLED everything in the tank, so they were trade-ins at Fish Ranch 2. Â 8OPLECOS SUCK!
