  • ? about pleco,coreys,loaches with cichlids

I am wanting to add a bn pleco in my 55g eb hap and with my red tops in my 75g but worry they might kill it. Also wondered about loaches and corey cats?

Get a good sized BN and you will be fine...

Majority of the time no one pays much attention to the CAKs.

In my experience my cichlids never messed with any loaches or plecos.  They are usuall only aggressive to conspecific and dont find the loaches or plecos a threat.

Thanks for your help! Now to find a bn pleco that is larger, the ones I have are only about 1-1.5in.

The loaches might be fine but the corys not so much they are small and non agressive so I don't see them working out well with africans

If you want catfish with your African cichlids, many of the synodontis catfish do great. They tolerate the same water conditions and can hold their own with African cichlids. I keep S. ocellifer, S. angelicus, and S. eupterus (sp?) with my trophs and julies. I also keep a red tailed blue botia and bn plecos and are all faring well.  8)

i have a 5" male brown bristle nose pleco in with my africans, and they dont mind him at all, he will come out and eat nls right along side the cichlids, no problem, same with my angelicus, red tail, yoyo, clown, and skunk botia.
