  • Anyone ever use a denitrifier?

I was thinking of making one just to experiment with nitrate levels in a working aquarium. I was just wondering if anyone has any experience using them.  Something similar to this..

They work but take almost forever to establish....

Water changes will not only acclomplish the same much faster but also replenish nutrients/minerals used by the fish.

Too much hassle to to startup and to keep alive.
Waterchanges are much easier to do.

Thanks for all the info, don't plan to reduce or eliminate water changes. I do 70% to 90% weekly water changes and the nitrate levels still reach about 10ppm. I was wanting to see if I can reduce the nitrate levels down to 0.

There will always be nitrate in the tank if the levels are too high just cut back feedings or thin out the number of fish in the tank
