I've used prime for years, never had a problem. Just putting that out there.

this tank does not have any CO2, personally i have never had problems with Prime, I think it is one of the best products out there IMHO, i've been using this bottle for at least the last 4 months, but i went and bought a new bottle and chunked the old one, i also got a new bottle of excel just in case

based on Mzungu and Onesickpuppy location, my water should be similar, this is really bothering me because i solved the problem, but i am not sure what caused it during the last two water changes and how to definitely stop it from happening next time, for now i will just double dose the added water with prime!!!

Not saying it's not a good product but I am just pointing out that I have read several cases now where nothing was tested in the water source and only thing done was water change and the use of prime.

Some of these cases have filtration parallel to mine.

Have you done any water changes on any other tanks? And when you say the tests were fine, what exactly do you mean?

You probably need to change your time zone to central U.S. in order for your times to display correctly. :)

Who are you talking to? Me?

Done water changes... yes, at 4 different locations in Houston and test fine meaning that test kits did not show any readable problems to present itself on a test kit. Also did not smell funny which is even more unscientific. But yet symptoms present similar with the same factors.... tap water source for wate change, prime used in the amount of full water volume, dead fish.

My Time Zone is set to GMT-6 which states America/Mexico which is central and the start of my week is set for Sunday unless we are not going by Satin week which I do not know what day that starts on.

i topped off my 30g semi-planted, but it was probably a 10% top off, so it did not affect the fish there (which is only 3 small fish)

as far as testing.. i tested for ph, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate.. i did not have a test kit to test chlorine at the time, but i got strips which i need to test out on tap water

when i do water change this coming weekend i will let you guys know what transpires

gotta admit its nice to have people on a forum within a mile of you that can attest for your tap water. of course i didnt take the real test ... a big gulp of it for myself. though I hold the belief that doing so would leave me gasping for air after gagging.
