is it ok till fill the aquarium with a water hose?

  • #2
My cousin does it all the time, and we do with the aquarium in the back of the house. The only concern I'd have is in the summer when the water is really hot from the hose being outside.

Yep.....just treat the water as usual. I've done it many times.

Supposedly your hose can produce contaminants but as long as you let it run for a minute or two b4 filling should be OK. at least thats what i've heard. BTW I use the hose for all my water changes with a python so as it drains the hose is running then I refill with the hose.

I also do it all the time but winter since the water comes out too cold, use prime or safe by SEACHEM and you will never have any problems.
            Cheers,

so i can drain my tanks down with a syphon, and then with fish STILL IN THE TANK i can refill with the water hose? how do you keep the chlorine and junk out of the water? can somebody give me a play by play on this cuz this seems WAY easier

attatch the python drain and fill to the hose, drain the tank, and then add the dechlorintor and fill the tank back up with the python still attatched to the water hose, it is faster, cause the outdoor hose has alot more water pressure than the home faucet.

it takes me about an hour to do a 50% water change on my 125g with my bathroom faucet, but only about 15-20 minutes with the hose.

exactly. or you can make a carbon filter if your worried about it and it is cleaned as you refill.
