ever had to euthanize a fish? How did you do it?

Although, all my fish are important and precious to me, I haven't found it necessary to take that kind of action. I just nature take it's course for the most part, after any and all attempts to treat/medicate are abandoned.

I havnt done it myself, but I have seen directions on how to use clove oil to euthanize a fish. I'm sure if you search around here or google some you'll find the directions.
in small doses the clove oil can be used to anesthetize fish for surgery, but in higher doses it can be used to euthanize them.Comment

It depends on the size of the fish. If it's just a small fish, as in fry to be culled, a bowl of ice water works fine. For larger fish clove oil can be used to anesthetize them. I don't have the directions handy, but one also included a shot of vodka. I'm guessing the vodka can be for either the fish or the grim reaper.Reasoning with some people is like trying to nail jello to a wall...Comment

O dear, I dont see my self thumping him or removing his head. Its my male Nic. He has swollen to the size of a golf ball almost. I had been treating him with Epsom Salt. We've had to do this to stop the suffering of sick fish. We use a big bowl of ice and a smaller bowl of water sitting in the big bowl of ice. They will slowly go to sleep and it seems pretty peaceful but it's still hard so we always cover the bowl with a towel.All men are created equal but his choices determine his value and what's in his heart determines his worth.
