I would vaccume out the brown mulm in the bottom of the wetdry, change out your blue/white pads, and then open and clean the 2213.

I would do this by opening the canister, remove all media. Put the Bio-Media in some fresh dechlorinated water and stir and rinse it in that water.

Then rinse at the sink all other media.

Then when you got the money, upgrade that 2213 to something else, or repack it as simply a water polisher and clean it every 2 weeks. Just use you wetdry as bio.

Sounds like you have a wet/dry along with the 2213... ditch the 2213 or just take it apart and hose it all down.

If you are running a wet/dry and the 2213, then you can safely clean the 2213 without having to worry about a another cycle. I alternate cleaning my filters so that one always has a bio load. You are not supposed to clean the wet/drys completely but I still do every six months. But I never clean the wet/dry along with doing the water changes. The pads and sponges are clean about once a month.

I think that was the 125 I had that I sold. If it is it has 150G rate wet/dry including the 2213. I had it on there because I had it stocked full and over filtration will never hurt. What I did was set up intervals of cleaning. I would clean the 2213 the 3 weeks later clean the Wet/Dry and repeat every 3 weeks so you will always have bacteria built up on one of them

a powerhead with pre-filter wouldnt hurt either.
i run my canisters and an oddysea 350 on my 75g and i run my canisters with an aquaclear 70 powerhead/pre-filter combo on my 125g.

imo using that filter on that tank would be like doing a waterchange w/ a syringe, It just isnt made to do that big of a job!! I have a 2213 on a 29 gal & feel that it is iffy at best. Its a good thing that you have the w/d or you wouldnt have any fish at all!!!!
