Fallen Nerites?

Hey Guys, as you know I'm fighting an ich outbreak which seems to be completely cleared up on my surviving fish. I'm using the salt method...which shouldn't be affecting the nerites in a negative way right? The eggs only hatch in Brackish water... Don't know what could be causing this.

Nitrites:0
?????

What could be causing these guys to fall off and not move around anymore?

For the nerites I have them in my Tropheus tank which gets a good heaping dose of salt which is replenished twice a week so I doubt it't that causing them to fall out.

Did you use any kind of med or meds previous to this treatment?
How long have then been out?
Try making some plain freshwater and putting them in that for now or just give them time to come back to.

Which Nerites are these?

They are just olive nerites... some I got from HarrisHawk a while ago... prolly almost a year ago

Why don't you tell how much salt did you use, what was the final concentration? What kind of salt was it?

It's regular salt, 36tsp count. I'll try the freshwater idea EK.

If your tank is 10G then they are dead if it is 100G they might still be fine.

its a 58 gallon. going for the 3 tbsp/5 gallon

I doubt its cause the salt itself....if you gradually increased the salinity then its fine. These came from salt/brackish water and I acclimated several olive nerites to full reef params(35ppt) within a weeks time for my reef tank with no ill effects.

Now what does bother me is that if you used regular salt as in table salt then there is iodine in that which effects inverts.

Yes, iodine might be the problem and that is why I asked what kind of salt. Maybe they used the one without iodine. Let's hope so.
