  • Blue Lobsters!! In NW Houston..

Me and the kids went cruising the LFS's last night.  Petsmart and PetCo were as usual dissappointing. PetCo was barren; apparently deliveries come in on Wednesdays, and they must have sold every fish, or in some toher way emptied the tanks. I picked up some balck neons at PetSmart because they were 5 for $5, and they looked pretty good. Also 3 Oto's for my grow-out tank.

But in Fish R Fun (529 and Eldridge), they had 2 types of cray.  They normally have a few North American ones, but I was particularly interested to see a bunch of Cherax Quadricarinatus, the Red claw. This is what I have (per my avatar). Now I really wnat a male, but the ones in FRF are way too small! His are about 3" and mine is about 9". but anyway, he has male and female and they look nice...he said $14.99, but then said $7.99...so I would suggest haggling if he asks for $15!

I also picked up some tiny yellow cichlids that he said were new...but I'll post about that on another post...

Yeah Bin at Fish R fun is a good guy when you get to know him. He has intresting fish and some illegal ones - like a an electric catfish - only 7 bucks! I want to keep my fish alive. but he is good to haggle with. and those yellow fish are lemon yellows cichlids.

As you come down Eldridge heading south, take a right on 529 (its the next big junction after traders village. then trun right just before thice house into the strip center.

I actually just wanted to check the place out. I'm looking for a new tank and wet/dry so I'm just going around to see what's available looks like in person.

I did however stop by inwood fish and they have the blue lobsters for $3.99. Just a fyi.

Well there's blue lobsters and blue lobsters. IMHO, you cn't put the N.A species in a tank with fish, but the Aussie species seem slower and more docile....but more expensive.

Re: Blue Lobsters!! In NW Houston..

There's a thread listing most of the fish stores around Houston:
HoustonFishBox is an online community dedicated to bringing together people and their fish in Houston, Southeast Texas, and beyond.

Inwood's about half way down or so. For some reason it's not on the map that I can see, but the address is in the post. Hope it's the one eklikewhoa's talking about.  :)

                            Got it.

So can ordinary users add LFS to the map?

I wish folks would add themselves in to the mpa...almost 400 users and just a few mapped... :?

Yep inwood tropical fish and supplies I believe its called now on antoine.

When I was younger I would follow my pops around to the lfs' and my dad was close to the old owner(I believe the older brother)....the good ole days!
