Re: Great source for Red Cherry Shrimp - Fishbox special!

interesting, i dont use co2 at all and my tanks does great, no alge at all anymore, that i see. everything is growing great too. i tried growing cherries in a separate tank but it didnt get enough light for its plants and most died. so i threw the rest in the community tank. there are very few fish, and they dont mess with my other shrimp in there. maybe there will be enough plants and cover for them to start to breed well. we will see.

How much light do you have over your tank tiapan?

I've got 2x96 watt power compacts with good reflectors.

192w over what size tank gt3guru?

My 20 has 96w over it and its requires lots of maintenance but my 2.5g has 18w over and has never seen a drop of fertilizers or a bubble of co2 since I didn't know how the shrimp would react to it. The 2.5 is growing great but just not as fast as the 20g. I have riccia and babytears in the 2.5g and its wicked looking right now.

my little nano has lots of little rcs but i dont knw how i would catch the little buggers out without tearing the whole thing down and they are so tiny.

use some air bubble tubing to syphon them out

i was thinking about that but then i would have to constantly syphon the water back and forth till i get all the shrimp out in that little 2.5g. i think i would be better off just buying a few more starter rcs.

i siphon out like a water change, into white bucket. Then I can net them more easily...but there is another way.

Get an empty jar that had spices in it. You kow the tall ones with the sprinkle cap insode the mane cap...one that had a herb in it. Tie nylon round the top. open the plastic sprinkle thing and put an algae wafer inside. Lower it into the tank. The shrimps go inside and you cna pull them out and empty them into their new home. Repeat till all are gone.

Here's pix of min in the grow out tank which is glass. The main shrimp tank is acrylic and seems to cause flash flare when I shoot pix.

This one is not a great pic but you can see the saddle:

Here is one of my hillstream loaches in the tank. The loaches and the otos help keep it clean of algae. The tank has ny last batch of danios in it.

Re: Great source for Red Cherry Shrimp - Fishbox special!

My order of 12 shrimp came in yesterday (18+ received)
3 breathable bags with a heatpack wrapped in newspaper.
                              all were in good shape.
I rinced the bags out 3 times to make sure everyone got out
but they dove into the plants at the bottom of my 45 breeder tank and dissappeared.  I only have endlers and one dwarf pleco in the tank but, I am going to have to get some special zoom glasses just to ever find the CRS again......
Maybe I should get a R/C model shrimp boat ?
'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are but dust ...'
He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in her shrill little four-year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'
