    They do sell some mineral additives, supposedly yielding better results though I myself have never actually tried any of them. I usually use Shirakura food and they have a mineral supplement, though most others do as well. Here is a link to their mineral supplement, they do take awhile to ship as its from Japan.

      at first, i did 100% ro/di water for my crystals, then i started doing 50/50, last 3 months, i've been doing 100% declorinated tap water. doesn't seem to hurt my shrimps at all, no behavior change. only thing i noted is when the temperature drop bellow 76, the red and white seem to some what improve, where as at 80 degree the white is less vibrant.

      i've experimented with the mineral stone. After 7 weeks, i haven't seen any improvement. however, the stone remain in my tank. As for the powder base, a friend of mine uses it from day 1 about 2 years ago and is still using it so he don't know if it does improve the coloration or health, but out shrimps seem to look identical. his shrimps breed year round though, i haven't have any luck with breeding yet, but then again i have 1 female and 14 males
