a protein film has developed and water changes haven't gotten rid of it.. lol my marina doesn't really break the surface much because the water is filled up high. what to do..? not much surface agitation.

Lower the water level a bit. Or a small air stone if you don't want to use a power head...

don't really wanna drop the water level, and airstones are too noisy lol. koralia 1 facing up.

Still think your best bet is to lower the water level just enough so the filter creates some surface agitation.

well i am still pondering how to lower the pH for this tank. i got recommended using R/O water to bring the pH down a bit. im js not sure how to introduce this R/O water into the tank without fluctuating the parameters too much and possibly killing my shrimps.

                            why lower the PH?

just do your water changes with R/O water...

pH sitting around 7.6-8 and crs can't breed or live long in that high of pH correct? r/o water is 6.2, by mixing it i can achieve pH around 7. lol so i should js replace the water i take out with the r/o water? pH wouldn't decrease too much by that?

I have never had CRS so I don't if they will breed in a high PH...
