  • Berried Orange Eyed Blue Tiger – Day 7 (picture)

For clarification it has been 7 days since I first noticed the female berried, and approximately 15 since I "think" I saw her mate. (think as it is hard to really tell since mating lasts all of 2 seconds... on a good day.

Oh, man, beautiful. Congrats...!! I absolutely adore these OEBT's. It's one of my long-term goals to keep them someday. Looking great!

    And welcome to the Box!

So far they are no too difficult, water quality seems to be the most important, but so long as you start right, you should be good. I am thinking of creating nano tank OEBT starter kits (once they start breeding strong). Basically a mix of the things I used to start my tank (25 gallon) in smaller quantities and like 2 sexed pairs of OEBTs. But that is like 6 months out probably. I mean the items are not that complex, a tank appropriate piece of mopani wood, some IAL, some of Kens premium Veg flake, ect.

Yeah, Mnemenoi and I are debating trying some of these, or CBS, or Sulawesi once we play tank-hopscotch and get the 8g or 2g freed up. These have my vote, but I know the water becomes more tricky the smaller the tank...small problems add up fast, and all. How nano are you thinking of going?

These I am growing in a 25 gallon, but I plan on testing it all out in a low light 1 gal just to make sure it all works as expected, but as I said that is still months off. I will keep my blog updated as I embark on that experiment.

I got a new shipment of these guys today.

It could be just stress but I think these guys are really lacking in color compared to my other OEBTs. I will give them time to get "unstressed" but I think they are just lower grade. I think about half of them will end up "mingling" in my normal tiger tank.
