barley pellets

Been trying to find this stuff in smaller portions to use as shrimp food (normally sold as a pond product to help break down waste and boost the nitrifying aspect of it, stabilizes and help improve water clarity.) but the smallest bag found is $30-40.

Today at FishGallery they had it and were nice enough to split the bag up into quarters!

The barley is the most promising from all the reviews, the ingredients are too. Plus the reviews aren't from sheep who jump on the namebrand bandwagon, made by real breeders. It also aids tank.

After I got a sample from TexSun, my shrimp are tearing it up. It takes about a minute to break apart from the pellet form and a the shrimp swarm to it. I just ordered 10 pounds of the organic pellets online and will be feeding the shrimp factory .

I am starting to notice a bunch of cherry shrimp fry , so I am guessing my water is ok.

I just moved some of the crs to the outside pond and they are looking good. I don't see any berried though but I'll give it some time

I think ALL SHRIMP love it! my nerites and ocats tear this stuff up too and when the kuhli loaches were in the tank they went crazy for it as well.

Questions about barley pellets folks?

Can i use it as the primary food or just as supplemental food. I am giving them about 4 pellets per day. I wondering if there is enough nutrution to sustain them or do I still need to feed algae pellets
