I've had some breeders tell me this is all they feed but only feed 3-4x a week phung, the shrimp graze and should be picking at the bio-film in the tank constantly.

You don't need to feed much as all you will be doing is fouling up your water.

If you're local Fish Gallery they have 1L tubs of one of the better brands I found online and the price is great since no one sells small quantities of the stuff.

I ordered 10 lbs of barley pellets and it came in today. They are huge compared to the ones I got from TexSun. They must of used the large extruder. I'm gonna have to break it up before I feed to the shrimp. It's gonna last me for the rest of my life.

Let me know if any one wants some and I will bring some bags with me the next time I go to houston.

I wonder of peacocks and mbunas will eat them. I will break some up and feed it to them tomorrow.

Where did you get the TexSun ones online. I as well have ran out and cannot get it local, I feed it to most my fish 6 years ago when I was running a bunch of tanks. Cheap and very productive for the water and tank mates.

I have the same stuff from some othe source, I do not like it, does not break up as nice and clean as the last stuff 3 types I found local. I like smaller softer pellets. I will keep looking, thanks for the help though.... I will hit up some animal feed stores in the area, they carry it to mix with oats for horses, goats, sheep, and cattle. Helps keep their immune system up and their tummies in working order. Used it on the ranch I grew up working on.

I believe I read that rabbit food is good for them.

So you are saying you feed cichlids the barley and they were fine?? Like Quoc said, TexSun is a member on the forum. He gave me a little sample when he met up with me before.

I ordered it online. I got like 10 lbs for 25 bucks shipped. It was the organic stuff. I figured it should be the same thing, but I just got it in last night so I haven't tried it yet.

My shrimp go crazy for the ones that he gave me. It is smaller in size compared to the ones I just got.

the microlobe stuff "fluffs" up in a matter of seconds and is easily picked off by the shrimp in my experience. Really easy to feed and I imagine it would be good on the digestive of cichlids.
