You definitely got culls, nobody sells their prize stock unless they are getting rid of all of them your batch was just worse than the norm.
If that person had not openly admitted that they started losing shrimp about a week after I did with similar symptoms I probably wouldn't or if I had lost even a single one of my shrimp(that they didn't send) before the ones they sent started dying.

I sent them an email asking for them to cover the cost of the medications for my two tanks that are now "infected." I think it is a fair request, and if it doesn't happen then it doesn't happen, it will not break my bank either way but I know I would do it if the situation was reversed. If not I will update my blog with a more accurate review of what was received and be done with it.

Hope for the best, did you not quarantine them before throwing them into your tank full of shrimp?

They didn't show any signs of being infected until for 4 or 5 days after they arrived, there was no reason to quarantine them at the time. I think the presence if IAL in my tanks slowed the infection and that is why I didn't see the deaths until about 2 days after she started reporting deaths. I did move some from my 55 gal into a isolated breeder container with a good amount of IAL, and they are doing okay. I treated the 25 gal with a home extract of IAL and I saw some improvement. I should of done that every day for 3-5 days but I made the mistake of assuming it was good.

As far as the culls, any decent stock of breeders of Blue Tigers is going to breed 70-85% blue, and I can understand shipping 50/50 but shipping 20/80 is just greedy and dishonest when all the pictures on the auction are med-very dark blue, I would of preferred blondes from a strong blue line to these pale-ish ashy blue ones that were sent. What really irritated me was the seller kept giving me excuses like oh they will color up in a few days or you need darker substrate or they wont get darker ... As I sat there looking at the ones she sent me next to a blueish black one in the same tank.

anyway, thanks for letting me vent. I am just a bit frustrated by all this, I just hope the girl doesn't have any problems hatching and I can recover some of the losses.

It should be a solid 28 days to complete the cycle, so yours should be hatching shortly. Sorry to hear about all that silliness concerning the breeder. I have read that its tough finding the actual ailment shrimp might be experiancing, but the Germans are on top of the game. Everyone just complains its only in German, so its tough getting it all translated into workable English. Especially with such highly technical subject matter, either way I hope it all works out. Sending you all the culls is just bad business, label them as such and sell them at a lower price and everyone is happy. Posting pics of OEBT's and sending blonde culls and hashing out about coloring up and substrate is just splitting hairs. I'd certainly reflect that in reviews and inform everyone about their practices. If someone had done so before, you would likely have asked far more questions and been more aware of what to expect.

Indeed, share the seller info to keep from this happening again.

Compared to the OEBT/Blondes I saw with the Speedie Groupbuy these are very poor grade.

The seller is Wicca25 on Aquabid,

I attached a link to the hi-res picture, you can see the color when they arrived, those colors as I expected did not change or get better. I don't think the bacterial infection was intentional or even known when she shipped but I do think that it was something she was responsible for.

she is on PT and yes that is the same person. I got my hand slapped by a moderator on PT because I asked a question about the shrimp in that picture being a possible crap cull, I didn't name the seller at the time but they chimed in and apparently "someone" was rude to her and the thread got locked because I was "criticizing a vendor."

It was okay though because the moderator was new and I happen to work with the guy who started Planted Tank ( I didn't even know that when I became a PT member I just noticed the name on the welcome email and the persons location and I asked him if he was associated with the site)

Yeah, thats just total garbage. If they were up front no one would ever complain, its shady dealings that get bad reveiws. If thats how you operate be proud and OWN up to your Jenky practices and products. Show terrific pictures of your subpar offerings and offer them at outragous prices and watch nothing walk off your shelf. Its just business ethics, but its exactly these folk that give evryone nervous fits ordering mail order stuff. Maybe she was running low and had to 'make it up' in culls, just send you a message and tell you that or add more jenky shrimp to make up for it. Giving you the option to wait until she can fulfill an offer she made and cashed in on is the least she could do...

i don't feel bad at all looking at the PT thread she started about her red tiger shrimp that look like they too have contracted the same bacterial infection that the shrimp she sent me had.

Take a look and tell me if you agree with my diagnosis
