I'm trying to decide what kind of shrimp tank I want and I'm having a hard time. I was gonna go with a 30 half moon but seemed too deep for what I wanted to grow on the substrate. I'm wanting to use a 150mh light and coČ and grow dwarf hair grass along the substrate. Right now I'm thinking a 40 breeder with a 2217 and the above equipment, but that may be to big for a dwarf shrimp tank. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

i have the 10 gallon half moon and i like the fact that the shrimp are forced out front more due to the curved glass, it has been an issue to light though. i have given up on high light. the 30 gallon has better proportions though. i would think that a MH light with a 10k - 14k lamp would penetrate to the substrate easily. you can suppliment with cooler T5 for the 6500k spectrums. some of tims tanks are 40 breeders if you decide to go that route. a bigger tank means more stable and would give you more area to stack lava rock like he uses in his cardinal shrimp tank75G Standard - High Light Planted Community Fish
