Requesting held IDing shrimp

Hi folks,

I was at Fish Gallery this past Thursday, picking up a few chili rasboras, and I came across this shrimp. It was alone in a tank with some nanofish, but completely unmarked and unpriced. The guy who was helping me with the Boraras didn't really know what it was ("just like a crystal shrimp") and, once I decided I wanted it, gave it to me for $8. Is $8 overpriced? Almost undoubtedly. The shrimp is doing fine in my CRS tank...but I am curious as to what species/color morph it could be. On TPT forums, speedie was selling similar-looking shrimp ( "super red crystals" link:http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/sp...-iii-oebt.html) for $25 a piece. I'm relatively new at this shrimp game, so any help would be appreciated!

Super reds is a german thing and they are high dollar cause the red coloration is solid. Like a reverse high grade japan bee.

I thought it was likely not a "super red" but was still puzzled. I agree, a low-grade CRS is probably the best identification...which means I spent my $8 very wisely ..... :-|

Question: If bred, will it cause the next generation of my S+ CRS to have broader red stripes and less white (in terms of both color and size of band) a.k.a. relatively undesirable offspring?

That"s possible but not necessary. It all depends on the grade and the quality of your environment/tank your shrimp are in.

Note: I just bought this 1 shrimp (the one in the pictures) from Fish Gallery. The rest of my colony (20+ individuals) are S+ from a breeder here in Houston (found him on AquaBid).
