Just getting into the shrimp game. Im a rookie by all means. Current stock is 14 CRS. Looking to get Taiwan Painted Reds. Can I get some small tetras without hurting the shrimp population and what about adding some snails?

Because Im a rookie and this was a mistake impulse tank. I had some stuff laying around, did some trades, got this tank and the rest is history. I just set it up Sunday. Still taking ideas on what I should do. Why do canister with shrimp tank?

You don't have to have a canister. People use HOBs all day long on shrimp tanks.

I just personally like canisters better.

what substrate are you using? might wanna keep a close eye on it.

I'll probably get a canister on it one of these days. So can I put some nice tetras or something in there?

Most will nip at adults, some will go after shrimplets, won't know till you try though!

If you aren't primarily trying to breed them then you could go with many options.

Substrate is Fluval stratum. Got some christmas, java, flame moss, and some plants I can't remember the name of. Substrate is backed by some regular gravel on the bottom as a filler. Water temp is around 77. I need a DIY fan to cool it.

I was told they are SS, but I think some are S. I personally like C. Just me though.
