If it were me, I'd just pull him out. Go with assassin snails or something that won't munch your lotus- those are so pretty!

yep I have nerites and the assassins to control the MTS. Well I think I will have to tell the bad news to my kids or buy a separate tank for the apple, I really like that one I have technically two but this one is the one with the huge appetite and I like them because I think or both are males of females they never lay eggs

I like apples, too...they are cool little snails. But it's not that much trouble to set up a really small tank- 2g or whatever- to keep them in. Trust me, I have kids and I know how it is, when they give you those eyes! "But, but, but...I LOVE THEM!"
        hahah.

Apple snail are cool but they aren't little. My Duaghter in-law has one. I gave her. Its as big as a baseball. So you may want to get a 10g setup for them. But they will keep eating the plants untill they are gone...
If you want them to breed? let you water get low. they come out of the water to lay eggs

Yeah, you're right! I have seen them that big occasionally, how long does it take, do you know? I always forget that, I have puffers in the house so no snail around here lives too long...

Do u keep them with your cichlids EK? I have never kept anything but lamps and labs and the apple snails were big enough not to be bothered by them

They may nip at his feelers but he will grow them back. the one in my duaghters tank is about two years old and still growing. So it doesn't take long. they hatch at the size of a pin head.

I am keeping them with my tanganyikans, as far as being messed with.... SnoopDogg has a hard time controlling his strength when playing with them.
