The box says 1000 lbs, but I think that's what the shelf supports would hold and not the particle board shelf itself. I would not trust a 29 gallon tank on one of the shelves.

I agree with Tim, replace the boards or add some support beams across if you plan on using the mdf.

3/4" plywood doubled up.. glue and screw them together all the support you would need for that short of a span.

you will need to center brace it as the frame has the edges really short, i have the same rack.

Thats what it looks like to me ! Use what you got .

A single piece of 3/4 inch plywood on each level should be strong enough to hold the wait .

Plywood Sealed, 2 of the shelves placed and screwed into place. 40 Breeder up top with lights mounted. Still need to mount the other 2 shelves. 3 bags of ADA Amazonia, 4 liters of Seachem Matrix, and Eheim 2215 should be here Thursday. I have the plumbing complete for the under gravel filter(will post pics of plumbing later)

i would use cherry stain on the plywood then coat it with polyurethane to waterproof it that would make it look real nice imo

I was trying to keep the industrial look of the shelves, so I just sanded and used Thompson's Water Seal. The plywood is birch, so it has a nice grain to it.

Put another shelf in and threw a 10 gallon on it to try to figure out what combination of tanks I want. Just waiting on the bottom shelf to dry and then will be finished for today. I should have the 40 flooded by next weekend.
