Kind of noticed that with mine too. Red Devils like scavenging all the time but then Vampires jump out of nowhere and attack.

They are indeed fun to watch.
      Scarecrow : I haven't got a brain... only straw.
Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

I saw someone locally collect a Ghost crab from Galveston and had a Vivarium that allowed tunneling in the sand that was awesome. Not sure what would be required to 'legally' catch those, but maybe a salt water fishing license. Really a cool saltie species that did surprisingly well in a high school bio teachers room.

so, with the exception of jozle, everyone seems to be keeping red devils in a purely terrestrial setup? I have been researching them since i decided to buy beefyg's old dart frog vivarium and it seems that many people suggest a 25-50% aquatic area and that the water should be higher pH (7.5-8.0) and soft (200-300 TDS, 5-8kH). A pinch of saltwater mix was often added to a liter of wc water. is anyone using supplimental heat yet? What is a good stocking rule of thumb for a 29 gallon?

            btw, damn nice setup jozle

Oh thanks, I just hope it holds up in the next month and half while I'm gone out of the country. Girlfriend should be doing water changes for me and feeding them so hopefully they'll be alright.

                  BAD NEWS!
My wife had rooms repainted yesterday. I checked on my crabs this morning and half the vampires were dead and one of the red devils. I moved them to a diffrent location furthest away from the repainted rooms. I just got home this afternoon and now half the red devils are dead. One of the vampires has a faded color to her (she doesn't look good). I put their tanks outside, to see if I can air them out.:(

There are diffrent things that I've read. Each of the species might be diffrent. It seems to be that floor space may be the most important thing. I had 6 of each in two 5 gallon current temp set ups (very crowed- vampires fight alot). I kept my previous batches 1 male 2- 3 females in a standard 10 gallon and pairs in 5 gallons that were set up with terrestrial mosses, submersed java ferns, and java moss with a soaking dish and food dish. I've not had time to set up permanent terrariums for the ones I have now. I'm just too busy right now.

i will post pics when i get the terrarium revitalized again, it was really HOT the day that i met matt and so several of the plants may not come back. i will work on it over lunches. its a 29 gallon with 4 males and 2 female red devils (thanks jacob!) they started eating immediately and seem to be doing well. they really like getting down into bromeliad crowns so i need to put some more in there lol.

The last of my crabs died today. I need to take a step back for now. Too busy. I need to just focus on just my fish tanks before I kill anything else.
