Thanks! I might have tied mine on a little too thickly, I'll trim it tight and see if that helps with new growth, and if it doesn't perk up after that I can start again, I suppose. I like the wisteria in there, I might just try that for distracting from the filter instead of the rotala indica and see if I can keep it trimmed down enough for that to work. Maybe eventually replace it with something tall and thin, sort of bamboo-looking... hrrrmmmm.
I find myself wishing that this tank were bigger, for once...hahah. Nano blasphemy! A bigger tree would help the scale issues so much. I agree it would look pimp if the tree were big enough to put the japonica in front of it, but yeah. Maybe the pics aren't showing it, I was taking them from a sort of top-down angle, but I've only got about 2.5-3 inches of trunk, and the japonica as it is will bury it.
I like the brightwell. We had a very small start-up ammonia reading, but it was a blip and the soil has been making me pretty happy since. Aside from the lightness of it, that's irritating me, it's a pain to plant and arrange- this is Rio escuro-F. I might go with a bigger size, were I to buy it again.
I've got some little microsword, not sure what kind but I'll probably throw it in and see how it looks. And by 'throw it in', I mean meticulously f* with it for 3 hours to get it to stay where I want it in this soil. Man, I wish I had some planting tongs!! Lol
