  • New Shrimp Set up

    Shrimp Tank.jpg
Well This is My new Fluval EBI

I was planning on just some Fire Reds and maybe some Yellow neos But the FSS brought my PH down to 5.5 so I might just start with some low grade CRS and go from there.

    WHAT DO YALL THINK?

Have you measured TDS / Hardness? I would think that this would be perfect for any kind of shrimp that you wanted to try other than the sulawasi types. i really like the scale of the ebi. on thing that makes a big difference in my mind is to trickle some substrate down the sides of the rocks so that they look as though they are erupting from the surface and not just placed on the substrate. other than that you look to be off to a good start!

You should be golden for nearly any shrimp with those numbers. CRS/CBS/Tigers and even neos can be done in soft water (though I have yet to try neos in soft, they do terrific in normal tap), my only recommendation would be to let it sit for 1-2 months and build your biofilm. Mosses are certainly appreciated by them as well...

i would guess that with hardness that low that your TDS would be great for caridinia shrimp!

              Off to a good start!

If you decide to go with neos, just remember that you can't keep different colors together or they will interbreed. So Fire reds & yellow together would not be a good idea.

Same is true with Caridina sp. Texsun is down close to you and has several types of shrimps. You may want to PM him when you get ready.

Dorothy : How can you talk if you haven't got a brain?
Scarecrow: I don't know... But some people without brains do an awful lot of talking... don't they?
Dorothy: Yes, I guess you're right.

Good to see another shrimp keeper down in league city. PM when you're interested in some shrimp. I have Crystals & a couple different Neo sp.. good looking ebi BTW. I love those little tanks, I have two. Bit of advice. Ultimately ditch the little filter included in the kit they bite. Cruise the ads for an eheim & stick it on there.
