Neocaridina tolerate a wide range of water parameters and are fine in our local tap water. Amongst the Caridina species, the CRS/CBS/King Kong/Wine Red/PRL types (highly inbred) types prefer the lowest, the Tiger types OEBT, Cobalt, SuperTigers prefer a median type water between the two previously mentioned. There is a wide range of opinions online as to exact parameters and what works for some has abyssmal result for another. TDS numbers can also track these shifts in mineral content, while GH and KH track certain minerals in the water columns and their exact amount. Sulawesi on the other hand are quite the opposite, prefering a higher Ph. CO2 has a tendency to artificially lower the Ph and mineral content of the water. Snails generally prefer harder water. Both are invertebrates and have a chiton shell that will dissolve in certain acidic conditions. I would avoid getting any lower then a 6.7 with Neos and anything else I would be certain I was well within their range and could stabalize at those numbers far before purchasing.

My neos must be freaks. They're thriving in 6.4 pH and breeding. I'm thinking of adding some CBS or some other caridina to the tank since they both like it.

6.4 seems about right for breeding conditions.

Your shrimp are looking good! If you were closer, I'd let you try some of these catfish pellets I got. They all fight over it and it colors them up nicely. I tried that stuff you're using and it gives me decent results but nothing compared to the catfish pellets.
I added 4 of my daughter's pink rams horn snails and they have started blowing up in this tank. Pic shows about half of them floating. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1362724943.151132.jpg
