Sulawesi really require all that? I guess the ones my younger brother has are really resilient.

There are quite a few different species of Sulawesi shrimp and some are easier then others. The blueberries are not as hard as say, cardinals or even more difficult species like the Harlequins. They are a great learning species when developing a system for Sulawesi and once they begin to thrive then I would consider stepping into another type that are a bit more difficult. Some of the high grade crystals can be almost as tricky though. It is just different water conditions. I have pondered using the new Sulawesi salt mixes they have and think it might make it a bit easier.

i have seen blue neos as well as sulawasi caridina called blueberries sometimes, does the OP know which he has? I would stick to 10-20% WC, some shrimp seem to be more sensitive to TDS than they are even to pH. even if they are resilient, you never know if your water company is having an upset of some sort. a large change during this condition is often fatal

I believe they are Sulawesi. I got them from Tim.

Once I get my RO system working again, I think I may start mixing my own water. It will not be difficult in such a small tank. If I get more shrimps they will be in a shrimp-only tank.

The one that survived is starting to get some color.

i started having better luck with shrimp when i started using Water Mill water, of course setting up your own RO is the way to go in the long run ad that way you KNOW what youre getting

I have a nice homemade, high output RO system built around a permeate pump, and one of the QD fittings inside the pump broke last time I did filter changes. I bought a new pump but I'm too lazy to hook it back up again, because I really need to be getting my house fixed up and on the market...sigh

After we move, I'll set up some more tanks. I have the damn bug...

I will be changing the substrate in this tank this weekend to Eco complete. Will do my best not to kill anything. I won't clean the filter or change any water if I can help it.
I went off the deep end

So I thought I lost two ... maybe I did lose two ... but if so, the last one was female and pregnant. I now have at least 12. :)
