  • Keeping Shrimps Entertained

I learned so much from our recently deceased (not really) friend TexSun. He would always tell me to keep shrimps entertain, they may be small and simple, but they do get pretty bored after a while. I actually saw bored shrimps this past month. The CBS and CRS were actually bored for once. They were just chilling in the back right corner of the tank.............doing absolutely nothing, not even foraging. They've lived in that tank for quite a while with little to no changes within the environment other than the weekly rainfall of food and water changes.

    Experiment 1.
Removed a couple of river stones to reveal filth that lay under there. All algae eaters swarm to that area, eats whatever crap was under there and disperses.

    Experiment 2.
    Increased water movement. No reaction.

    Experiment 3.
Threw in some cut pvc pipes for crustacean homes. Shrimps forage and examine new foreign objects for a good hour or two and then goes back into the corner.

    Experiment 4.
Threw in a whole piece of Indian Almond leaf. No reaction.

    Experiment 5.
Move them to a new home where all the other CRS are living. They party hard all day and night for the past week or so.

Learning from experience. I will be scrapping their old home and remodeling it into something nicer. Lesson I learned from this experience is that shrimps hate their home if they stay there for too long and they are upstuck picky animals.

In all honesty, I am dead bored in the middle of the night and felt like sharing a little of something.
Will trade Fish Stuff for Camera Lens and Anime Figures.

I like how the shrimp act when you put them on a hook and throw them in deep water with big fish....

Don't tell fish stories where people know you; but particularly, don't tell them where they know the fish.
