  • Shrimp from a canister filter

I was all too ready to laugh at this...but want to make sure this is not all that uncommon.

I cleaned out a friend's canister filter for the first time in...ever...and ended up snatching up 20+ cherry shrimp. My guess is that they have spent their entire young lives living in there. So I brought them home and they seem perectly at ease on the plants...doing their normal shrimp-thing; that is, until they go to swim around the tank. They seem to have very little sense of balance...just kinda letting the water current take them haphazardly wherever it will and when they find a good spot, they snatch on and continue their grazing. It's kinda funny to watch...but has anyone else ever noticed this when taking shrimp from a canister filter?

I loss tetras in my wet/dry all the time but they always die. I started with 32 now 2. I have a colony of shrimp living in the bottom of the wet/dry. I feed the fish RCS as a treat and some how a few made there way to it. Now ever now & then one gets to close to the pump. Fish food. My shrimp tank has no pump just a spungefilter

I have sponge filters on my 2217 intakes and still find shrimp in them.

What are the facts? Again and again and again--what are the facts? Shun wishful thinking, ignore devine revelation, forget what "the stars foretell", avoid opinion, care not what the neighbors think, never mind the unguessable "verdict of history"--what are the facts, and to how many decimal places? You pilot always into an unknown future; facts are your only clue.

I get shrimp in my canisters even with sponges.... it is fewer that without sponges though.
