  • Shrimp Tank 2: Now w/ unsucky pics!

Now this is how I wanted to set it up. Craigslisted a few items to free up some funds. Sandwiched some aquasoil into the substrate, got proper lighting, switched the HOB filter for a Zoo Meds miniature cannister filter which is awesome because since it was made for turtles, it has a huge bioload and there's plenty of room in the cannister for dosing. I was putting in peat to lower the pH and hardness but no longer have to since I've switched to aquasoil. And it has a spray bar which makes a pretty good current in a planted tank.

I like this new layout a lot better, I was feeling a lot more creative. Unfortunately, one of the shrimp was moulting, and didn't survive the stress of being netted and having to wait in another tank until the new tank's water parameters were acceptable.  :(  The remaining shrimp seem to like it and are a lot more active, though.

Any my dad lent my his camera which is way nicer than mine, and I was able to get some slightly better pics. My favorite one is the shrimp climbing the lace plant like a ladder.

        Looks nice!

What are you feeding these guys? Also in your second to last picture the plant in the bottom middle looks non-aquatic, where did you get it?

            Thanks for the nice words.

Ek, you're right, that plant isn't t a truly aquatic plant but I didn't know that at the time being a plant novice. It's some mondo/monkey grass that I got at Petsmart a while back as one of my first "aquatic plants". Good eye.

I've been feeding them some shrimp pellets that Shawn sent me and some crab pellets which they love. Also they forage for any decaying plant material.

            Hanson, its a 20g Long.

Make sure those crab cakes aren't the ones on recall.......Mine loved NewLifeSpectrum H20 wafers and flakes.

I'm more of a rocks and driftwood guy myself, but I figured might as well get it planted since I shilled for the aquasoil and light fixture.

Thanks guys! I actually stole some of the rocks from my dad's landscaping. Well, he said I could have a few but he left me unsupervised...
