Alright, so I have a Fluval Spec 2. I *had* 3 cherry shrimp in it along with a Betta, some ramshorn snails, some mts, a Blue mystery snail [acquired about 2 months ago.] and an Otocinclus catfish.
Well one day I was missing a cherry shrimp. I even removed the driftwood in the tank and could only find two of the shrimp.
I figured it was the betta, but what was odd is the other two shrimp weren't avoiding the Betta at all, and he wasn't bothering them at all.
Fast forward about 2 months. I lost another Cherry, but I witnessed the act. The shrimp was chowing down on whatever it was picking at in the dwarf hairgrass. The mystery snail was nearby and slowly moving towards whatever the shrimp was munching on. Well, on the way it chomped down on the shrimps back ripping a hole in it! It then proceeded to consume the entire shrimp shell and all.
Has anyone else had something like this happen? The shrimp was perfectly healthy, yet the snail was able to eat it. I was surprised to say the least. So now I'm down to 1 cherry shrimp ;.; and it's only a matter of time before It gets eaten by this killer snail I'm sure.
