Thanks for the link, Nick. Says all apple snails except pomacea bridgesii, 'mystery snail'. I like the way they word it..."No person may import, possess, sell, or place them into water of this state except as authorized by rule or permit issued by the department."...that pretty much covers everything
        Good to know!

            Nah they get maybe 1.5"-2"

I bought my "illegal" snails from either petco or petsmart. They were sold under the name yellow or golden mystery snails AKA yellow/golden apple snails. They do get pretty big. I like to let them breed because they look better than pond snails and they tend to out compete the pond snails in my shrimp/snail breeder. Plus they make great puffer food. They lay pink egg sacks that have to stay out of the water. A surprisingly small amount of water splashed on them will destroy the eggs. When I first saw the eggs I had no idea what it was and thought a wasp had somehow snuck into my tank and made a nest. After some more research I figured out it was apple snail eggs. They lay a ton of eggs and the snails grow pretty fast if they are well fed. If you feed them sparingly the growth rate slows way down.

They are mystery snails. Apple snails are diferent. Besides the size. Apple snails eat and kill plants. There was a time apple snails were legal. I use to breed them.
