Re: Florida Blue Crays - Babies

Two bags with a couple of these guys were sold at the GHAC Mini-Auction.  Some of these guys are an inch.  There are starting to grow really fast.

I got one of the bags, they are really cool,

they are definitely growing very quickly!

I think soon it will be difficult for my fish to steel the sinking pellets from them

What fish do you have with the crays?  Any issues with them getting along?

They only get about 6 inches or so.  The Australian ones, like Tracie has get around 12 inches.  Its so cool that most of them already have an outstanding blue color.

Re: Florida Blue Crays - Babies

I have some sailfin mollies and some rosy barbs

I havnt had any problems.  when the crays take their sinking pellets into a hiding spot the fish completely leave them alone.

if the crays eat the pellets out in the open the fish start to get interested in the pellets and will usually take it.

but if I feed the fish right when I give the crays the pellets they usually leave them alone.

and I see the crays out munching on some of the plants in the tank sometimes also.

Yeah, some of my guys are growing faster than others.  I'm gonna need to split them up some more besides the two tanks they are in right now.

Oh, they will gobble up a handful of Java Moss over night!  They love it.

Re: Florida Blue Crays - Babies

They are all growing really fast, one in particular is significantly bigger then the other 2

the big one has started stalking the fish, he'll climb up on top of the driftwood or a plant and wait untill a fish is below him then drop town and try to grab it as he falls.  He hasnt caught any of them yet... they are all still a little bigger then he is.

They've totally destroyed the little bit of java moss I had... its completely gone. and all my other plants have varying amounts of chewed edges...

Going to be putting them in an aquarium my girlfriend is setting up in the next couple weeks... probably going to be a dedicated aquarium, just for them.

I was looking very closely at my babies I got last night.  I know I paid more than you were selling them for, but heck.. it's for the club.  One of them is regrowing his claws and only has one leg on his left side.  You can't tell by the way he moves though.  The other one is smaller, but perfectly formed.  Bernadette loves them because they are blue, but I love them because they are cool as heck!  Thanks for bringing them to the auction.  RIght now they are by themselves, but slowly I will be adding more and more to their world.

Sorry about the one.  I was running late and was just scooping up the ones for the auction.  Your baby will regrow its legs soon enough.  It will molt a numerous times while young and should be good as knew very soon.
