Nerites Upside Down

These nerites are odd to watch. I have heard they are active, but this morning i found two in my plant tank on the underside of my canopy. There is some algae growth up there due to the airstone and moisture hitting (its plastic that the light sits on)...so they were just munching away with a pond snail. i read they do climb out of water a bit, but normally find their way back into water.
is it recommended to close off any "exit points"? i have read they can climb out of the tank completely, but this setup was a kit so there is an oval shape gap where the filter pours into the tank. maybe just some window screen cut to shape? i could be over thinking

mine never tried to leave the tank. I heard if they do then there's something wrong with the water, but if that happens, your fish will die first. They are very active for a SNAIL. Mine always try to climb on each other and piggy back, cleaning each other shell or maybe humping I don't know but they do that oftenI have the patience of a goldfish....

i have seen them piggy backing at times too, and other times right at water line or very slightly above it. just never saw them out of water upside down on the underside of the glass canopy. i left them where they were. i assume they know what they are doing and will find their way back into water, or just drop off and fall in again

Ours wander around a lot, too. I don't buy that "they're running away, blah blah it's water conditions" talk...they wander looking for food, that's what they do.
Sometimes ours will manage to get in the HOB or fall out of the tank. Usually we find them before they die, but sometimes not. :( Silly things.

This just happened again to me! I had a tiger nerite laying upside down in the tank on the sand for 3 straight days...
And then gone! I did a count of the nerites slithering along on the wood/glass, and the total count was the same. So weird!

yup usually if water condition is the problem, fish would die before your snail run away =d. They do have weird behavior. Also, snails problem is generally harder to identify than fish because most of the time we see the shell rather than what is inside the shell.I have the patience of a goldfish....

i have just come to accept the behavior now. i routinely see them on the underside of the hood now where you open the front. if i cant see them on the glass or wood, i open the hood and there ya go. they go up there for a few hours and make their way back down. just very active for a snail.
the other three i initially started the thread on were dead though
