How easy is it to breed CRS?
Well, I can tell you.
Some store manager ask me 5 months ago (July) if I still was breeding CRS.
I said NO, bummer.
As many know I sold all my breeding colonies last year around this time.
Not sure what became of that as nobody ever called or send me a PM back with the results.
Any way, that store manager wanted about 250 CRS from ss+ to sss.
I told him that I kept one 10 gallon tank with about 12 shrimp.
The maintance on the tank was minimal as in fill up and once in the two weeks some food.
Didn't even know how many was left in there as the tank was over grown with moss, riccia and some more of the so called rare plants that I can't remember the name of it on the moment.
So I said "well, not sure when do you need them?
Store manager said around the holidays.
That said I went home and cleaned out the tank, I had 5 left in there and one was berried.
I cleaned up a 20 gallon ordered some German new soil, that a friend of mine brought back from Europe.
The tank was cycled with in a three week period and moved over all the shrimp.
The one berried looked really fat and ready to drop some fry, and she did a week later.
Did a 2 time WC of 1 gallon only feed them some breeding food that I still had.
After 4 weeks in the new tank I had about 30 shrimp from ss up to sss, the majority were ss+.
So breeding went well and yesterday I called the store manager "hey, I got your shrimp ready in two weeks"
As he ask me how many total I had, I said I stopped counting when I moved 500 over in the swim out tank.
So will I be back with CRS?
Just for the holidays I think.
Can you guess the answer on the Thread tittle?
