qurstion from a beginner

Question for you. So I have a 10 gallon tank I want to make a shrimp tank (first time keeping shrimp or live plants) the tank currently has guppie fry about 2 month old I'm trying to get read of. When it doesn't have any fish in it would it be ok to just start adding substrate and drift wood plants etc. or should I empty it and start over

Just depends on your substrate of choice and hardscape. Should be fine either way though

Just swap substrate whenever you like, the sooner the better. Guppies should be fine for a bit until it clears a bit. Rinse the sand a lot. Till it runs clear and rinse some more, you'll thank yourself in the long run...
