Ok, nvm. I just read the descriptions and it says the shrimp prefer 7.5-8+.
Did you read the bit saying adult size? Thats small, Less than 1/2".Comment

Yeah, apparently these guys don't get much larger than 2cm, if that. Although none of the ones that are currently being sold have a "real" species name, they're just Caridina sp. "Really pretty shrimp." Except for the spongicola, which is C. cf spongicola. (BTW, what does "CF" stand for?)
The oldest literature I've found regarding the lakes/freshwaters of Sulawesi and the shrimps found there is dated 1852...not any good pictures, though. :P"Millennium hand and shrimp!"Comment

They seem to have the same water requirements as my L46's, maintaining their water shouldn't be a problem.
I hear that they are about the same size as the C. Babaulti species (i.e zebras, greens etc). But we'll see.Comment

The c.f after Caridina means that the Genus (Caridina) is certain, but the species is unertain, which is not surprising since it is a newly discovered species.
If it shows up before the Genus, it means that both Genus and Species are uncertain.
In our case, they have identified it as Genus "Caridina" but the species is uncertain or just doesn't have a name yet.Comment

I ordered 15... now i have a big hole in my wallet.
Yep.. i saw that paper too. I've been doing lots of research for the past 2 months or so.
When the opportunity came up to finally get some, i jumped on it.
But at with any overseas shipment... there's a risk that they'll all arrive dead.
Furthermore they are wild caught and there's little information on them... I just hope that i've prepared myself enough.
I'll definitely post pics when they get here in 2 weeks. Wish me luck!Comment

I've kept up with the research when I have time, these guys are really interesting to me, maybe because I KNOW I can't afford them!
But it seems as though more people are starting to "explore" over there, so hopefully we can expect more info shortly.

Yeah... i hope they will breed for me too. But for now, so little is known about them, i'm just hoping that i don't kill them.
How much.. well... quite a bit... :wink:
I managed to sneak in an additional order of Cardinal Shrimp. The guys in germany tell me that they don't cross breed, so hopefully i'll be able to keep them in the same tank.
